There was supposed to be a once a month outing this evening and I've cancelled all my appointments just to be there. Sadly to my disappointment, most of them suddenly had their commitments and couldn't make it.

In a twist of fate, I met up with a lovely friend whom I had not seen for ages. We were supposed to meet up and have coffee at a place she picked and guess what when we arrived there...haha it closed down long ago and we ended up having Ya Kun Loti instead haha. Lots of catching up to do as it has really been a long time and there was so much for me to be updated on. Surprising, she seems to be updated on so many issues of mine and surprising it was all heard from my friends whom I had not met up with for quite sometime. She even knew where I took my degree from, apparently she had a friend there who knew me haha. The thing is that I don't even know that person and she knows who I am...gosh was I so high profile in the past haha. Maybe too high profile during sec sch days liao that's why now so 'kuai' already hehe.

Anyway Ya Kun seems to be closing liao so she suggests to go for a drink at Bojangles, so there we went. Guess it was the second time there, went there once before and the experience wasn't very good due to the fact that I was feeling down the first time I went there haha.

Lots of catching up was done on the memorable sec sch days, and a lot on her entering the next phase of her life...getting married soon liao. Seems to be a trend for people my age haha. Discussing about how her bf propose to her and the difference between our methods of proposal haha. She seems a bit disappointed though that her bf did not present flowers to her but alas what is flowers compared to a proposal at a vineyard in a foreign country. So so romantic and expensive leh, don't complain lah haha.

Also touched on her ongoing training as a teacher, wow imagining nurturing the future pillars of our country. Sounds good heh...I think if I be teacher jia lat ah; if I don't die of heart attack, the students will haha. Lots of memories flashed back as we chatted on. Some stupid, some funny yet interesting haha. After a few hours of chatting decided that it was time to retreat back home. Got a sweet little 'gift' before we went on separate ways, haha. Till we meet again. So the day was cool after all. ;p

My leave started today...but unfortunately, I didn't seem to be on leave today...haha woke up early in the morning at 7 plus due to a call, then a few calls were also made out. After the calls were made, majam already awake liao...haiz what to do...read newspaper loh. Afternoon, just stare at the computer looking at the current market situation and hoping that my babies will grow soon haiz...The rest seems to be growing but my babies like not accelerating at all leh haiz. Then I felt my stomach groaning at about 4 plus. Wah haven't eat lunch leh, quickly go and make maggie mee. Just as I was about to devour my brunch, my phone rang...ahhhhhhhhh got to go back to office. Stupid me, never leave key in office for people to open my cupboard...haha nevermind anyway I wanted to go back and check my mail also lah.

Then met my gal for dinner...hmmm had Sakae Sushi but I think the one I ate at is called Dining at Sakae. Well doesn't make much difference to me, just that there's no discount!!! Alamak everytime I eat also got discount for using certain credit card mah (Typical Singaporean hehe)...but they say don't have wor. Nevermind loh...somemore nowadays the green tea also charge 1 buck liao, last time free one leh. Kaoz just one month never eat only change so much...damnz...but still have to eat a more hearty meal as didn't have a good lunch...in the end the bill chalk up to 40 bucks... ok lah not bad lah...chinese always say 'Ne Chi Shi Fu' Can eat means prosperity...hehe. Then went window shopping...this month a bit broke liao leh...so guys if we're meeting out tomorrow night, you know what to do liao hor...hehehe ;p Look forward to the activities tomorrow, but first must go and replenish my energy...SLEEP...

90/10 Principle By Steven Covey (Author of bestseller The 7 Habits ofHighly Effective People)

Discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations). What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.

We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determinethe other 90%. How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light. However, you can control your reaction. Do not let people fool you; YOU can control how you react.

Let us use an example: You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined byhow you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table.

A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school.

Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit zone. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye.

After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why?Because of how you reacted in the morning. Why did you have a bad day?

A. Did the coffee cause it?
B. Did your daughter cause it?
C. Did the policeman cause it?
D. Did you cause it?

The answer is "D". You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need tobe more careful next time". Grabbing a towel, you rush upstairs.

After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in timeto look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90%was determined by your reaction."

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, do not be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You do not have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? (A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try to bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive.

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it. You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why are you stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90/10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90/10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle. The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10principle. It CAN change your life!

A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, "My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?"

The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk."

The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery. The monks again accept him, feed him, even fix his car. That night, he hears the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier.

The next morning, he asks what it is, but the monks reply, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk."

The man says, "All right, all right. I'm dying to know. If the only way I can find out what that soundwas is to become a monk, how do I become a monk?"

The monks reply, "You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk."

The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of themonastery. He says, "I have traveled the earth and have found what you have asked for. There are145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth."

The monks reply, "Congratulations. You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound."The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, "The sound is right behind that door."

The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He says, "Real funny. May I have the key?"

The monks give him the key, and he opens the door. Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man demands the key to the stone door. The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire. So it went until the man hadgone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst.

Finally, the monks say, "This is the last key to the last door."

The man is relieved to no end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is amazed to find the source of that strange sound.

But I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk!!!!!

I suddenly have the urge to just spend my money and in the end I got my pocket burnt over the weekend. Damn, went out shopping with my gf and just had the sudden impulse to buy things so went into G2000 and bought 2 shirts which costed me $100. Then the urge came again and I bought a DVD player for $65...also bought a shirt for my gf at G2000...wah lau eh over the weekend spent more than $200. But the feeling was great haha...Occasionally, must pamper yourself and your love ones a bit lah. Last week my dad's birthday, bought a Braun Buffel wallet and key holder for him and had a simple dinner at the soup restaurant...Hmmm I think this month's expenses will eat into my savings again...*sob sob* must start to save money liao cannot anyhow spend excessively.

Hmmm I actually dropped a mail to all my poly mates telling them about the gathering that Teckwei was supposed to organise...but hor no one replied leh...the kuku organiser also never reply. Then today I msg him, immediately he call back trying to give the reason that Jer was actually busy at the end of the month...haha Jer become the sinner liao. Then after some considerations, decided to ask me to pass the msg to the rest to ask them when they are free for the month. So guys if you see this, pls msg him and tell him when you're free ok. Take the chance and screw him also keke ;p. If Teckwei see this, don't know will kill me or not haha.

How many times have you stood at the threshold of a new door, contemplating what you would find on the other side? How many times has fear stopped you from proceeding? If you never cross through, you will be left wondering "what if" for the rest of your life. Take the chance, what have you got to lose?

Portal
by Tara Simms

Standing on the outside,
looking in.
Afraid to knock
on the door in front of you.
How many times have
you stood at the threshold
but been too scared to cross?
What is it you fear?
The unknown lies ahead.
What awaits you on the other side?
Only one way to find out.
The door swings open,
Will you enter?
Well, if opportunity knocks on your door, what would you do? See...that's why we study things like opportunity costs haha...but I don't think opportunity costs would be able to affect any decisions you make in life...Life is what you make it to be. Live life to the fullest.

Though you don't live next door,
though you're far far away,
You're still here in my thoughts
every week, every day.

When events of the day
cause this soul to despair,
just the sound of your voice
makes them easy to bear.

When I don't have the luxury
of feeling your soft touch
or taking in your scent,
which I appreciate so much,

I need only look back
at the times we have had
to wonder if I've
any right to be sad.

You're truly a blessing.
I want you to know
that I care for you deeply,
wherever I go.

Been a week since I scribbled on my blog...well not that I was so busy that I didn't even have time to write, the mood just didn't come. Haha maybe laziness has overpowered me... Anyway it's a new month...October yeah...looking forward to the next outing planned by my poly mates...hmmm wondering where we'll be going this month. Oh ya it's Teckwei whose organising this month's outing...think most probably he'll either come drunk or organise a drinking session and leave for home drunk keke. Well well we shall wait and see...

Anyway, so what's been going on this week. Basically nothing much happened, was the same old stuff of going home after work...and then followed by a brand new day. I did actually just dropped by one of the clubs along Boat Quay for a short drink on Friday, I think it was Eskine club or something like that where it was freezing cold. So just had a Heineken and left the place haha...Then went for a late dinner, just in case I forget; the Char Siew rice was fantastic...wah lau eh, no fats and a bit of burned meat...omg crispy and nice. But not very good for health lah, so don't take it too often. Subsequently left the place and took a stroll somewhere else...reach home liao still cannot sleep...sit in front of the stupid computer till 4plus am...kaoz.

Weekend was over in a blink of an eye...Monday again...wah today go bowling...cannot make it ah...Practise practise still ok...come to real game...hand already giving way liao trembling like xiao...sianzzz...Anyway playing for fun lah so don't need to be too serious loh...but wah lau eh...really very inconsistent during the game leh kns...Disappointing...maybe must 'worm come out of world' (Translate to Chinese lah) start to jio my kakey out to play liao. But think think liao also doesn't make sense hor...play for fun ok lah...not professional what...better don't waste time on it lah, like rolling money into the hole like that haha. A Jack of all trades but master of none...haiz...haha.

A Quote of the day for myself and to all:

"The jack-of-all-trades seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of your efforts on one definite chief aim."
